AOAC-India invites technical experts, laboratory professionals, and regulatory stakeholders to participate in a pivotal Capacity Building Program on PFAS Method Development and Validation in food and water. This two-day initiative is jointly organised by CSIR-IITR, NABL, and ASTRA, and will be held at CSIR-IITR, Lucknow.
CSIR-IITR, designated as the National Reference Laboratory (NRL) by FSSAI for PFAS in food matrices, is at the forefront of tackling PFAS contamination through scientific rigor and global alignment.

Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) have emerged as a critical environmental and public health concern due to their widespread use and persistence. This program aims to standardize and harmonize the methodologies for detecting and quantifying PFAS in food and water, ensuring public safety and compliance with international regulatory frameworks.
Hands-on training and demonstrations on method development and validation of PFAS in compliance with ISO/IEC 17025:2017.
Guidance on documentation, audit preparedness, and QMS elements aligned with NABL accreditation protocols.
The initiative is supported by respected global and national organizations, including:
AOAC India Section
GFORSS (Global Food Regulatory Science Society)
Food Industry Asia (FIA)
IUFoST (International Union of Food Science and Technology)
NABL (National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories)
Laboratory Analysts & Technicians
QA/QC Managers
Regulatory Compliance Officers
NABL-accredited laboratories expanding scope
Technical Assessors and FSSAI-recognized labs
This capacity-building workshop is a critical step toward harmonization of analytical methods in India and prepares Indian laboratories for global compliance with PFAS monitoring regulations. It also enhances the competency of technical personnel, enabling more consistent and reliable PFAS analysis outcomes.
Venue: CSIR-Indian Institute of Toxicology Research (CSIR-IITR), Lucknow
Dates: 30–31 July 2025
Mode: Onsite – Hands-on Training
