We are excited to announce a Capacity Building Initiative for PFAS (Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances), organized by CSIR-Indian Institute of Toxicology Research (CSIR-IITR), Lucknow from November 12-14, 2024. This initiative aims to enhance the skills and knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025 technical assessors in food and water testing laboratories, ensuring they can effectively evaluate laboratory competence in detecting and quantifying PFAS contamination.

Key Highlights:

  1. Focus on PFAS: With increasing global concerns over PFAS contamination, this initiative emphasizes harmonizing detection methods for these harmful substances in food and water, essential for regulatory compliance and public health protection.
  2. Collaborative Efforts: The program is a joint effort with international and national organizations like AOAC International India Section, GFORSS, Food Industry Asia (FIA), IUFOST, and NABL, facilitating a broad exchange of best practices and methodologies in PFAS testing.
  3. Technical Assessors Training: Designed for ISO/IEC 17025 technical assessors, this initiative provides in-depth training on laboratory assessments related to PFAS testing, improving their capability to ensure adherence to international analytical standards.
  4. Support from Abbott Nutrition: This initiative receives expert support from Abbott Nutrition, ensuring additional resources to enhance training efficacy.

This event will play a vital role in addressing the challenges posed by PFAS in India, equipping technical assessors with the skills needed to ensure laboratory compliance with PFAS testing standards.
