Dr. Sumit Sen

Dr. Sumit Sen is the Mentor for the India Section of AOAC INTERNATIONAL. Back in September 2010, at the AOAC INTERNATIONAL Annual Meeting, he had a formal meeting with Dr. Jim Bradford, Executive Director of AOAC INTERNATIONAL and with several other senior officials of this organization, and discussed with them the importance of having the India Section of AOAC International .  With their support, the India Section of AOAC INTERNATIONAL was formed in 2012.

Dr. Sen has been working at US FDA for 19+ years. His current job title at FDA’s facility in Irvine, California, is Chemistry Branch Instrument Specialist and he is also a Foreign Inspection Cadre Member (Pharmaceuticals & Medical Devices). Dr. Sen’s expertise includes US FDA cGMP Regulations, US FDA Inspections, Analytical Instrumentation, Chromatography, Spectroscopy, Mass Spectrometry, Analytical Instrument Qualification, Validation & Verification, Quality Assurance/Quality Control, Quality System Management, Quality System Auditing, Laboratory Accreditation, and ISO 17025 Requirements. Dr. Sen received his Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India, received his M.S. Degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Akron, Akron, Ohio, USA, and received his PhD Degree in Polymer Chemistry from the world renowned College of Polymer Science & Polymer Engineering at the University of Akron. He was the First President of AOAC INTERNATIONAL’s Southern California Section in 2002. He is also currently the President of United States Pharmacopeia (USP)’s Western Compendial Discussion Group.

Lately, he is one of the recipients of 2015 Association of Official Analytical Communities (AOAC) INTERNATIONAL’s Official Methods Board (OMB) Award for Achievement in Technical & Scientific Excellence.
