AOAC-India with Thermo Fisher Scientific organised food safety workshops

AOAC-India in collaboration with Thermo Fisher Scientific organised food safety workshops in four major cities, namely Thiruvananthapuram, Bangalore, Chennai and Kolkata on 15th, 16th, 17th and 18th of November, 2016 respectively. The workshops were part of the planned outreach activity of the AOAC-India and for the benefit of analytical communities in different parts of the country. Dr. Niladri Sekhar Chatterjee from ICAR-CIFT Cochin; Meena Mariappan from TUV-SUD, Bangalore; Dr. Bala from Mettexlab, Chennai; and Dr. Rakesh Kumar Ghosh from ICAR-NIRJAFT, Kolkata deliberated on behalf of AOAC-India in their respective cities. The AOAC-India nominees in each city apprised the participants about AOAC International India Section and its activities. The Section provides opportunities for technical individuals like scientists, industry professionals, academia, analytical experts and others to share information, build professional contacts, expand leadership skills and gain practical management experience. Participants were urged to take up membership of AOAC-India and participate in its activities such as proficiency testing, standard harmonization, method development, capacity building, etc. Dr. Khalil Divan, Senior Director-Vertical Marketing, Food and Beverages from Thermo Fisher Scientific shared his years of experience on application of ion-chromatography in food and beverage analysis. Mr. Richard Fussel, Global Marketing Manager-Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry spoke at length on simultaneous screening and quantification of chemical contaminants in food and beverages using high resolution accurate-mass mass spectrometry. All the four workshops ended with meaningful interaction between the experts and the participants. The AOAC-India looks forward to conduct many such events all over the country for the benefit of food analytical communities in the country.
